In 2023, Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram announced a multi-million-pound project to deliver the first new Mersey Ferry in over six decades, underscoring its importance in preserving the iconic Ferry Cross the Mersey experience for future generations.

Due to enter service in 2026, the new vessel will feature stylish, spacious interiors and full accessibility throughout. Designed to offer an exceptional way to explore the City Region, it will provide unrivalled views of the River Mersey while setting new standards for comfort and inclusivity.

The design strikes a careful balance between heritage and modernity. The exterior retains the traditional livery and colours of the historic fleet, while the interior adopts a contemporary aesthetic with warm tones, rich fabrics and flexible spaces. The purpose-built ferry will include event areas, bars and bike storage, ensuring versatility for daily travel and special occasions.

Infinite 3D created an immersive VR tour of the interior and exterior, combining rendered panoramas, 360º photography and interactive elements to allow the design to be explored in detail ahead of launch.
