Gilling Dodd - Bradford Hospital
Gilling Dodd recently completed the stunning redesign of large interior sections of Bradford Teaching Hospital, and Infinite 3D, having photographed the results, can testify to their quality.
Taking inspiration from nature, to enhance the organic feeling of the redesign, as well as artistic ideas from local schools, the end result is one that staff and patients seem hugely satisfied with.
Pupils from Bingley Grammar School worked on mood boards and features for the paediatric ward and adolescent lounges, which have now been completed on the new £28m wing of the hospital. Their ideas, such as interactive areas in a chill out room, as well as large blackboard painted walls were young people can ‘practise graffiti’, and a selfie wall, where they can post pictures and messages for other young patients, have all been put into effect.
Consultant paediatrician Simon Frazer said, ‘their ideas will really make a difference and the children should be so proud of their efforts.’ Indeed, the children were rewarded for their artistic and charitable values. Having not only drawn up some of the design inspirations, they undertook a fundraising campaign to raise money to fill the new hospital areas with better equipment - raising over £4,500. The students who took part were rewarded with a first-look tour around the new wing, and the school is set to be commemorated for their efforts with a plaque dedicated to Bingley Grammar.
